Products to Consider for Preventing Falls

Door Guards (to remind people not to walk through doorways where they could fall down stairs)

How they work: A Do Not Enter banner provides a clear, recognizable, visual image reminding people not to exit or enter a restricted area.

Door Alarms (to alert a caregiver if it happens anyway)

How they work: Alarm sounds when a door banner is detached from the monitor.

Monitoring Systems (to alert caregivers when patient gets out of bed or chair)

How they work: These fall monitors work with a variety of pressure sensors on a bed or chair. A recessed on/off switch deters tampering. Alarms vary from different tones to voice recordings.

Wheelchair Lap Pillows, Belts and Foam Wedges

How they work: They help to prevent slipping out of a wheelchair and falling.

Slipper Socks (for showering) and Wheelchair Slippers (to prevent heel from sliding off footrests)

How they work: Non-skid slippers are ideal for seniors in the shower or for seniors who cannot wear full support footwear.

Uplifts for Toilets or Chairs

How they work: The easy-to-use locking mechanism secures the raised toilet seat to the toilet bowl. They come with built-in handgrips for easy handling.

Bedrails and Transfer Handles

How they work: These rails are designed for use on standard home beds. The rails can be easily raised and lowered with a push button adjustment.

Adjustable Toilet Safety Frame

How they work: For use over a standard toilet or with a raised toilet seat. Armrests provide secure hand support. Arms adjust in and out, and legs adjust up or down for height.
